CFTC Opens Door for U.S. Traders to Access Foreign Crypto Exchanges
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a landmark advisory allowing foreign exchanges to reopen direct market access for U.S. traders. The move, announced by Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham, reverses years of restrictive policies that pushed crypto trading activity offshore.
Regulatory clarity from the CFTC's Division of Market Oversight comes after increased inquiries from foreign boards of trade. The decision effectively creates a pathway for American companies that had established operations abroad to facilitate crypto trading to return to U.S. markets.
"This reaffirms the CFTC's commitment to providing U.S. traders with access to deep, liquid global markets," Pham stated. The policy shift could significantly impact trading volumes across major exchanges and increase accessibility to a wide range of crypto assets.
